what keeps earth from falling into the Sun

what keeps earth falling into the Sun.

Ever wonder despite of gravity is an attractive force , why earth and Sun don't collide with each other. Keeping two magnet opposite Poles near they collides if not hold back. Then why don't planets get Pulled into the sun.

So here is that great why?

Remember Earth is spherical in shape, not a perfect one But still shows its curvature. Similarly Sun is also spherical. So we won't be doing any math here, Just apply a single logic.i.e : imagin yourself at hight of 100 km and the Point of sight of Planet is say 80 km. Now you are falling with terminal velocity of 100 km Per hour downward But also moving say 90 km per hour Parrellel to the horizontal surface. Now every hour when you reach 100 Km downward you miss the surface By 10 km as you are moving at speed of 90km per hour and the surface is Just 80km in length. Now you got the right Point , the theory is same But the Scale is in thousands of km.

Terminal Velocity: when an object is in fall from sky it is constantly get accelerated by Value g (acceleration due to gravity) the more the speed raises the more drag or damping force it bears reducing its speed. eventually it reaches a point where no drag exeperiance.no more acceleration, now the thing is falling with constant velocity termed as terminal velocity.

Now, come back to our original cause of discussion.

Why Doesn’t the Earth Fall Towards the Sun?

There are two possible explanation to this - One is Newtons law of gravity and other is einstein gravity theory. So to understand better first we should know what these theories are and what is gravity force.

Gravity: It is one the fundamental forces in nature. It is an attractive Central force. According to Newton's law of gravity the gravitational force between two body is force of attraction between them by virtue of there mass. it's towards there Centre of mass.
The Earth and the Sun also follow the same law of Physics. As Sun is almost accupied around 99.8% of the all mass of our solar System. Around 109 times the diameter of earth. approx. one million Earth like Planet Can fit inside our Sun.you can now visualise how massive sun is. So its gravitational influence on earth is more than earth's on Sun.
Earth and other planet in solar system is constantly falling towards Sun. But as we have discussed above due to the horizontal Velocity of Planets at specific distance they keep avoiding the collision with Sun and So is done By earth. and this velocity is called Planet's orbital velocity. As there is no friction or damping in space these velocity remains continue and do not loose its energy by virtue of inertia. Thus, Earth doesn't fall into the sun.
it is the same phenomenon with earth & moon and that's why Satelite also orbit earth.we will be discussing einstein's law of gravity later on in next addition
